This page shows examples of error messages that appear when Advanced Power Management settings configuration failed.

The most common error messages are:




Reason for problem
Insufficient system rights (not administrative)

Solution to the problem:
You are required manually to grant administrative rights to hdparm.exe (see how)

  1. I am having issues running hd-parm on windows 8.1. Either run as administrator or not...It pops up and exits.

    1. Getting exactly same issue with win 8.1
      Looks like giving any compatibility options runs command in separate window that just opens up for long enough to run it and closes right after. Need at minimum option to pause before close...

    2. This is standard Windows functionality for Win 6.x (Vista, 7, 8). The app is executed in elevated mode, not the .cmd script, that's why is the popup window opened, and sorry but pause option cannot be put there.

  3. I have a problem with running hdparm on windows 8.1 Everytime I run it I get "hdparm is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file". I have all the admin right sets. Any ideas?

  4. check your OS type - 32bit or 64bit
    then install the correct MSI installation package for your OS type
    after that shortcuts in the start menu should work normally

  5. Can't install on windows 8.1 stating missing dll. any tips?

    1. Reinstall the using the MSI package and use the shortcuts on the start screen.
      Win 8.1 is fully supported

  7. no start up box in WIN 10. Have to restart PC after exiting from sleep mode. Is their a work around?
